ABOUT us

Meet Confidence Omenai

I am an INELDA-trained end-of-life doula who has been tarrying at the thresholds of death in my poetry, performance, and art for more than twenty years—long before I formally stepped into this work three years ago.

I came to this calling through my own journey to make meaning of the valley of death and from a deep desire to accompany those navigating difficult, disorienting, and unexpected transitions. As a descendant of divine alchemists who extract beauty from ashes, it is my duty to stand in the divide between planted and buried, waving a lantern to light the way.

We journey alongside those who are processing terminal diagnoses and those enduring circumstances that kill the spirit but do not take the body—indeterminate life sentences, life without mercy, divorce, profound identity shifts, and the natural cycles of death and rebirth that shape a human life. In all of these thresholds, we offer presence, guidance, and support.

I am a Nigerian American end-of-life doula, poet, and death worker who believes that a grave and a garden can look alike to the untrained eye.

For over two decades, I’ve held space at the intersections of art, grief, justice, and spiritual care—supporting communities told to be quiet, be strong, and suffer in silence. I am a mother, ritualist, and cofounder of a nonprofit that uses art to build resilience and healing.

Transforming Transition is where my work as a doula, storyteller, and companion meets your need for deeply human, culturally aware, spiritually grounded support.
I don’t rush you. I don’t reduce you to a diagnosis.
I walk with you—as you are—with as much softness and truth as we can carry together.
